If the ProleWiki ever gets popular, it could be attacked by vigilante capitalists or terrorist organizations like the CIA or NATO.
I’m not entirely sure what methods or strategies are used to proxy torrent sites like Pirate Bay, but they seem to be quite effective at keeping those sites online. Even when hosting servers are raided by local law enforcement, there’s a mirror or backup or proxy elsewhere which still works. We just need a strong community working on and supporting the project and able to manage those types of contingencies.
Pirate Bay is a hydra, cut off one head and another will spring up. Also, it helps to by hosting in piracy-friendly or anti-US jurisdictions.
That’s a different issue though, torrenting sites’ main issue is legal trouble. ProleWiki isn’t illegal in most countries, the issue is more subtle, political subversion or online harassment like malicious editing.
I think a backup set to update itself every so often would be good. But my guess is that its already in place. Any specific attacks you are thinking of?
