I’m not knowledgeable enough to say it doesn’t have Jewish origins. It was probably brought to Israel by North African Jews in recent history, but it’s definitely not Israeli in origin.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I thought shakshuka had Jewish origins until I read this.
Edit: of course, it still might. At least whoever told me that didn’t specifically say it was an Israeli dish, so that’s good I guess.
