If canada is capable of both addressing its human rights record (they aren’t) and calling out China’s human rights issues, why is China’s critisism of canada’s abysmal human rights seen as trying to “get off the hook?”

You are saying canada is capable of doing two things at the same time, while ignoring the reality that canada is not doing the thing it has a obligation to do, while implying that China is not capable of doing those same two things at the same time. This is pure jingoist double standards.
