But just a fair warning especially because you’ve been doxxed in the past: Be very, very careful with private info (including posting pics of yourself). Fascists have and will use that to harm you if you’re unlucky. Even one of the admins was targeted this way and had to leave the site.
Sound advice. I’ve never used my own pic before, and this one is from after I graduated college. It wasn’t the worst type of dox, just some guys from college who didn’t like that I was now hotter than their girlfriends.
The admin I was talking about was pretty careful with his info, yet it still happened. So please don’t underestimate the willingness of certain people to hurt you.
Also, you aren’t the only user on here to use a picture of themselves, one of my favorite posters does that as well.

The only reason I even created/have a completely annonymous twitter account with no posts at this point, is to follow geopolitics and news related to that because a lot of information is still posted there and journalists still use the platform, the rest of the website seems like a toxic cesspool that I have no interest in. The website is so obviously artificially manipulated by Musk I don’t even understand how it’s functional anymore. Haven’t tried bluesky yet, but looking at new user activity on here, apparently it’s also ended up in the gutter. Sorry to hear that you got doxxed, that’s terrible.

If you’re looking for mobile apps to use hexbear, we’re based off a platform called “Lemmy”, so any Lemmy client application should work. Some popular ones are “Boost for Lemmy” and “Jerboa for Lemmy”. Some hexbear custom features, like the emote picker and setting pronouns, might not work correctly though.
RSS still works for Twitter, but you have to use the nitter instance set up by some fascist reactionary and that asshole temporarily blocks your IP if your RSS feeds updates too much. So the choices are creating an account on a social media site run by a fascist or using RSS feeds on a nitter instance that’s also run by a fascist.

I used Twitter a long long time ago and got tired of it. Started an account on Bluesky but never really used it. I think the only social media I really use is this site (been here since it moved from Reddit and it’s pretty addicting tbh), Discord, Matrix, and VRChat. I probably spend the most time these days on here or in tracha (the trans matrix chat here - it’s an extremely fun/cool group).
