Thank god I saw this. I vehemently dislike the idea of paying VPNs.

I forgot proxies existed for some reason; I used them in the past.

    It depends on your threat model: if you’re defending from corporate attackers, a selfhosted VPN sounds like a good idea. Against state actors, redirecting all your traffic through a single point is not great…

    Also curious why there is no mention of Tor in that link :)
