The decision, which was first reported by NBC News, is a reversal for the president, who repeatedly said he would not use his authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence.
Biden is 46th president, but resigns on January 20th.
This is just in time for Kamala to take the oath and be president for 5 minutes.
Trump takes office as regularly scheduled but a new wave of actually takes him out this time.
Vance, while extremely unlikable, pushes through Elon as his VP (SCOTUS reinterprets the meaning of “natural born” in a landmark 6-3 ruling), but it doesn’t save him from assassination as QAnon blames him for Trump’s death.
Elon becomes the 50th president (although he decides to rename the position to Bazinga King) sometime in 2025…
Trump and/or his allies, depending on exact claims, have been openly saying that even green card holders (aka “legal” immigrants) and naturalized citizens (aka… also legal) in response to “but people you’re talking about are often documented, fully legal permanent residents or citizens…”
So if they truly plan to pursue deportation of US citizens and permanent residents (the former is effectively impossible currently and the latter is difficult although much easier than a citizen. Countries generally can’t just… ship their people off to random countries… it creates stateless people for one and also no other country wants to receive them so where the fuck do they send them?) and they want to maintain this vague skeleton of a liberal legal system they have to do something about the definition and granting of citizenship. He also said “anchor babies” are on the docket for deportation. Fully legal, “natural born,” “native” citizens.
We’re gonna be hearing a lot, a lot, more “blood and soil” rhetoric in the next couple years. Because citizenship is granted basically one of two ways (or both if you hit both) in the US and always has been.
Blood: your parents are US citizens. Even just one. There are some stipulations such as the parent’s time lived in the US and how recently, etc.
And then there’s “soil” which is if you’re born physically in America or on anything considered US soil then you are automatically at least eligible to be a citizen (you may choose to not get it depending on circumstances… like the birth wasn’t really planned and the parents and child (as an adult) have no desire for the citizenship…)
Obviously all of it is insanity, but I do wonder specifically about the anchor babies and US citizens born abroad stuff because, and maybe Trump is too dumb to be aware, but a ton of citizens are granted citizenship by “blood” due to their parents being citizens at birth. Literally not even born in the US at all. “US citizens born abroad” is the short term (the real one is long and I’m too lazy). So you have like “soil babies” tied to their citizenship solely based on geographic location of birth and “blood babies” (oh god) ties to citizenship based solely on who their parent or parents were.
I fall into the latter category… and deporting me would probably be the funniest thing ICE could do. I mean obviously it would be horrible, but in the end once I’m in… the UK? Germany? Wait where the fuck am I going exactly? Because I’ve checked if I qualify for German citizenship for that sweet EU passport and they said “NEIN!”, and I don’t think the UK will accept “but my grandparents’ surnames!” as a reason for their passport either. Maybe they’ll just kick my tranq’d up ass out of a c130 in central Europe and call it good enough.
But of course I also know the answer is “no, not you dumbfuck.” Because I’m white and pass the more-important to these freaks “blood quantum” test. Which is both hilarious and frightening that Americans now support such tests… in effect anyway. It’s the only way really to “justify” deportation of non-whites and non-Anglo or at least non-European people.
Gonna be some full blown Nazi insanity in coming years…
