I have a lot of issues with Trudeau but the one thing I have to give him is that he can really deal with Trump well

Side note but since when is Canada a major source of drug cartels and fentanyl production lol?

I’m dreading pierre winning next year now that trump is going to be In power. At least Trudeau has experience dealing with trump. I fear Pierre will be another Harper that caves to anything America wants of us.

He’s attempting to back out of his tariff promise. He’s figured out that it’s horrible. Did the same thing with his meeting with the Mexican President as if it was his idea. Only thing is that she announced right after that she basically told him that Mexico is doing enough and it’s not their problem. His cult members will not be happy if he backs out of this.

Oh, this is the thing that will make his cult members upset? Not… *gestures broadly*

Yeah, by definition they’ll go along with it. Probably come up with some convoluted reasoning as to how it was the plan all along.

They don’t even know what a tariff is. Trump could just not do it and they would have no idea. It’s not like anyone who knows what they’re talking about would complain about them not happening.

Never. Canada is never a significant source of fentanyl.

Just wait. We’re gonna reject the milquetoast bigot like they did, because we have a high number of halfwit yokels like America has. Having been raised yokel but left the community to attend schooling, I see all my former neighbours heartily endorsing the leopards as family pets.

I not very aware of such thing but it is my understanding that the fentanyl crisis is the result of misbehavior of the pharmaceutical industrie. Was I wrong? I genuinely want to learn.

Its also the misbehaviour of the pharma industry. The misbehaviour makes people that don’t do any drugs at all become dependent on opiates, because they hand out that shit like candies(at least that’s what I heard). Once they are hooked and their script runs out you either get clean, which is absolutely horrible and can even kill you, or you go to the black market and get hooked in Fentanyl, because literally everything is cut with it.

The fact that the US is a capitalistic nightmare more and more people may start using drugs to get some form of enjoyment and so may end up getting hooked on Fentanyl. The fucked up Us healthcare system prevents people from getting the help they need because they can’t afford it. I also don’t think that the US spends a lot of money on preemptive work to make people aware of the da Gers which causes people to be less cautious.

These are basically the main reason for the current drug epidemic in the US. May have forgot some points.

What started as an opioid addiction epidemic caused in part by Percs and oxy’s (Sackler family/Perdue Pharma) and such, became worse as people could no longer legally access them. Fentanyl patches were being stolen/robbed and sold at incredibly high prices. (One patch could get you 100cad a while back) Add on top of the heroin and other narcotic use already happening and shit gets crazy.

But, someone, somewhere, realized fentanyl could be made extremely cheap. That was someone in China.

And fentanyl could be mixed with shitty grade drugs to make them more potent and more addictive.

It could also make them lethal.

So, now you have foreign govs looking the other way as known chemicals are imported and used to manufacture and ship fentanyl to countries with increasing drug addiction problems.

Then, other local idiots figure out how to do it. With less experience, and who give no fucks, make shittier grade / less stable fentanyl and add it to pills, heroin, etc. and people start dropping.

Addicts of a certain degree don’t care. Just need the next fix. Even at the known risk of immediate death.

Then you have the kid who decides they’ll do a line of blow for the first time and happen to snort a grain that wasn’t mixed in well enough. Small enough to not be noticeable. Large enough to kill them because they have zero tolerance to that type of drug in their system.

So. China/triads. Motorcycle “clubs”, and other gangs. And the Sackler family.

Those are the people responsible for all of this.

You’re obviously right, but made the mistake of actually thinking logically. What actually happened here is that the very stable genius just blamed another problem on immigration because otherwise his donors (was about to write friends but these people don’t actually have friends) would maybe be unable to buy a fourth yacht if god forbid they were held responsible for their greed-fueled actions that destroyed families.

It is probably true that fentanyl is smuggled into the States, but that is only part of the issue and not the root cause for the crisis and not related to immigration except for the fact that someone or something crosses a border. It’s hard to tell if it’s just his racism / xenophobia or if he actually doesn’t understand, as he also doesn’t seem to grasp that the concept of granting shelter from hardship isn’t the same as a mental institution, even though they’re both called “asylum”.

Trump is doing the uncoupling, though what we need to do is to expand our horizons: EU, UK, Ukraine, Turkey, and yes, Mexico—instead of trying to throw it under a bus to appease Trump.

Agents captured an average of 1,810 pounds of fentanyl a month at the US-Mexico border … On the northern border, an average of 1.8 pounds a month was seized over the same period.

    Source

This is just a Trump power play, it has no basis in reality, but it strokes his ego and forces others to scramble.

Obviously, the recent RCMP fentanyl busts in BC got on Trump’s radar somehow, and he just assumed all that fentanyl was making its way to the US, instead of Australia like the investigation suggested.

Probably not. Trump is infamously inconstant. In don’t think there is a solid policy based on a specific identified problem. I’m pretty sure Trump’s focus on tariffs is as solid and will informed as that old grumpy guy at the coffee shop or work.

It does mean that the solution to getting the Trump tariffs lifted has nothing to do with the 1.8 lbs of meth seized at the Canadian border. Another Canadian musical premiere like Come From Away on Broadway with Trudeau hosting would go further than any number of border guards.

Wow. Hard to believe that is the incoming head of, currently, the most powerful country. It’s interesting that “Retweet” is “ReTruth” on Trump Social. A bit on the nose that, the truth is whatever we say it is, no? It feels like a collective delusion, which I suppose it is

The Arctic is an important topic?

Referring to glacier melt or something else?

Because that’s not an Arctic-specific phenomenon, that’s global.

It’s called the northwest passage. It’s supposed to be a vital shipping route once the ice melts.

It’s also an important region for defense. Look at a map of the north pole. Russia is right there. We’ve never had to worry about a naval incursion before. With melting ice we do.

And, yes, there is oil up there.

No fucking clue, I didn’t even know that was a thing (it probably isn’t). From an American point of view, it makes me wonder if he’s going to try to sell the idea of a border wall/patrol between Canada and the US, to keep people from trying to leave in the near future (and of course, he doesn’t understand that the US has struggled to build a wall between Mexico and the US, and the Canadian border is way longer).

The answer is a search away, and yes Canada has a trade deficit with the U.S.

I honestly wasn’t sure before the search, due to the large amount of natural resources we export.
