That was a laughable election. I would’ve preferred if Harris had won, because I’m not an accelerationist, but that time is past. Where do we go from here? Can the DNC be dragged back towards the left, or is it done for?

Neoliberalism has been “dead” for over a decade, and yet it lumbers on as a zombie ideology.
The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.
— Antonio GramsciFascism isn’t on the rise in the US in particular and the West in general for no reason. The cause is neoliberalism, which is monopoly capitalism in decay. I wrote about this two months ago, but I’ll spare everyone the copypasta and just link to it.
Marxism. The DNC cannot be dragged to the left, because it serves donors alone. The party structure is designed from the ground up to serve the interests of Capital, and prevent left entryism. This is proven by the fact that the Harris campaigned to the right despite polling data showing the popularity of platforms like Medicare for all.
If anyone wants an introductory reading list for Marxism I can offer one, but otherwise Blackshirts and Reds is an excellent start. It shows what fascism is, where and when it arises, who it serves, and how to banish it forever, while also debunking common anti-Communist myths, both from the “left” and the right.
The DNC just becomes a permanent minority party until it becomes silly enough for donors to fund it they lose the ability to hold back alternative parties and then they go the way of the Whigs. But I think that’s going to take like 16+ years best case. The GOP was just a permanent minority party for like 20 years last century without collapsing.
Good time to consider abandoning the DNC altogether and give Anarchism a chance. Create a new world in the shell of the old with worker owned cooperatives, cooperative energy, cooperative housing, mutual aid becoming a core tenet of society, and solving local problems with direct action .
Society with decentralized power and the elimination of profit motive would limit corruption heavily, and should be a sustainable long term way of being, and allow us to effectively fight climate change.
The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin is a nice exploration of how that sort of society could be. But we can also look to how the CNT structured society during the Spanish civil war to see it put into real practice.
