Yeah if this was some idiot who just decided on his own to release them. Someone is going to jail. Unless it’s a politician, then they might get kicked off a committee,… Maybe

There are plenty of motives to do this, and none of them good.

The only silver lining I can see here is that if someone inside thinks that the Israel dumpster fire needs more petrol, maybe they’re afraid of an incoming Harris admin. That might mean that Harris is more doveish than Biden on Israel and the Palestinian genocide.

Not true. Could be someone trying to save lives by forcing the fascist apartheid regime to postpone the attack by revealing the plans. Or just hurt the Israeli warmongering efforts in general.

Those are two good motives off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s plenty more possible ones 🤷

From where I’m standing, this may have the opposite effect, Bibi would look weak if he caved to pressure like this, and the genocidal idiots propping him up and keeping him out of prison might want to commit to the attack just to save face.

Don’t get me wrong, Israel’s current leadership should definitely be in the Hague already, I think where we disagree is whether this will goad or scare Israel. My point of view is that as long as the US does not stop its unconditional support, Israel will not be scared off.

I am interested in your point of view as well though.

Yeah, I think both the faction advocating for the Israeli genocide and the faction advocating for throwing the election to someone who would more openly support the Israeli genocide and start some genocides on his own is stupid.

Harris sucks, but her winning is the best plausible outcome of the US election. It’s like a plane crash, just because the crash is inevitable you don’t smash the plane into the ground so it’s over faster, you try to save as many lives as you can while admitting that not all of them can be saved. That does not mean I think the people who can’t be saved are less valuable.

But if you want to effect change in Palestine, advocate for BDS, advocate against AIPAC, not against Harris, at least not in the general election, not now. The uncommitted movement was brilliant, and it was exactly the right time. It is not the right time now.

Instead of strange speculations, you could just listen to the many pro-genocide statements made by harris.

Currently, if POTUS Biden said the sky is green and up is down, VPOTUS Harris would echo it back with conviction, especially since AIPAC is breathing down their necks right before an election.

I’m interested in what POTUS Harris would do, especially with a VPOTUS Walz, and I’m hoping that this is political manoeuvring, and there is some shred of human decency in them that cannot come through because of how fucked up US politics currently are.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect much, but one can hope.
