This is something all these feel good “oh climate change won’t kill us all” liberals. We’re seeing atrocities like this now it can and will get exponentially worse.
Libs won’t care because it’s not happening to white people.
Oh I know. Im annoyed when they pretend otherwise
It won’t kill them, so they don’t care, basically. This is the lib brain at work.
I agree with this prescient statement. It is why the climate is at the forefront of my political concerns.
damn this is a fuckin good speech
My support for Petro is very critical, given his results when it comes to indigenous and afrocolombian peoples rights and environmental protection, but at least he’s got the right idea when it comes to international solidarity and amplifying anticapitalist rhetoric as a head of state.
good speech and all obviously true, would have held more weight if it wasn’t given in dubai of all places tho
This is mostly vibes based, but I think Petro might be my favorite world leader right now. Xi is out there doing God’s work in his own way, but Petro is such a great rhetorician. I like a President who takes a bold but correct stance and then explains it forcefully/eloquently. Maybe that’s still a small West Wing lib part of my brain, but fuck yeah dude spit truth in the ghouls eyes as if it were venom.
peoples of the South unleashed by the climate crisis
…not a fan of this wording
It might be an issue with translation, though. Spanish has these really long run-on sentences that can be very ambiguous when translated to English and not punctuated well.
In Spanish it sounds like he meant the barbarism will be unleashed by the climate crisis, not that the peoples from the south will be unleashed.
A closer, less ambiguous translation would be: “the barbarism unleashed on the Palestinian people is what awaits the peoples from the south; a barbarism unleashed by the climate crisis”, but this means adding to what he actually said, even though a Spanish speaker will understand the translated meaning without issues.
