The fact that we’re at the point where candidates just outwardly say “yeah, I lied. So what?” And people continue to back them is wild.

You know what this reminds me of? Alex Jones repeatedly lying about the Sandy Hook school shooting and having to pay over a billion dollars after his followers repeatedly harassed and threatened those families.

How is this thoroughly debunked lying by Trump and Vance any different?

Lies typically work better when you don’t admit that you’re both lying and intend to do it again.

    Conservatism was always like that.

They see the average voter like a child, which is too dumb to understand the world, and as such needs to be lied to about things.Their main goal, since the fall of kings, is to conserve power. It’s just so conveniently also coincides with a lot of tradition, which they often cover behind.

I am a former conservative, and one of theirs tried to hold me back with their version of the “birds and the bees” talk, even promising me “private freedom” (doing either the harmless stuff they’re against, or the really fucked up ones, as long as no one finds out) and wealth if I manage to reach the “inner echelons” of their operations.

There is a reason authoritarians exist. Some people just go along with it. We use to tell them to wake the fuck up. Instead they decided being woke is somehow offensive.

Figure it out, we will all be better for it.

As an erstwhile centrist, I was under the impression that this sort of thing was supposed to be firmly in the remit of Marxism.

    What gives.
