The option is on desktop enabled by default, on Android there are some issues which need to be resolved first which is the reason why its off by default there but I expect to see this introduced into the next stable version.
It is a slight ClearURLs/RedirectURL based solution to directly redirects you automatically to the real URL. It is not advanced as to what CU offers but Brave approach is more to strip down tracking and not to cosmetic alter URLs, this was also discussed on several issue tickets.

I’m not a big fan of Brave, but this feature is appreciated and hopefully Mozilla will implement it natively in Firefox as well.
