Different conditions.
America is mostly immigrants. Europe is still majority indigenous. You can’t expect those to have the same exact attitudes; that would be pure idealism.
Another thing is the relationship to the Muslim minority: France is 10% Muslim, the UK 5.8%, the USA just 1.1%, so they’re not going to have the same attitude towards Islam. Islam is a humdrum daily reality to most Europeans.
There was an example of this when Sadiq Khan was elected mayor of London.
British press has headlines like: Sadiq’s got it as expected.
USA press was like: London now has a MUSLIM mayor!!!
