Unfortunately at this point I think society lacks the willpower to do that.
We lacked the willpower to do it the first time.
But then, it seems like the disease has mellowed in 4 years. As long as we don’t have a 9/11 worth of deaths every 3 days we’ll probably be OK.
I still see people talk about the pandemic for the US and use the word “shutdown”, and I’m like…when? Maybe the first days or week, then the economists chimed in with, “we’ve got to make things go again”. There were a lot of people forced to work-at-home or even laid off for a bit, but there was absolutely not a real shutdown. We wouldn’t have survived. Thankfully the “essential worker” label got tagged on just about anyone working a low level job (but not really compensated for that effort), and lots of niches opened up for people needing stuff delivered.
Well, I’ve been working from home since 2018 so not a lot changed for me. :) My doctors cleared me to go back to the office just in time for the shut down so I was like “Nah, I’m good…”
More like 2021 measures. Masking and washing hands but not isolating.
We don’t really. It surges high, because only 25% of people took boosters last year.
We now have vaccines and all we have to do is to use it.
