I doubt it. Its relationship with impotence trended briefly and jokes were made, but nothing changed.

Personally, I’ve been thinking that’s how I’m gonna need to approach it if I’m ever gonna be in a relationship again. One of the reasons I’ve been considering buying a Plus Life tester. When covid hit, I’d been caregiver for my grandparents for a few years, so my social life was already pretty non-existent except for one last fwb situation I had in Jan 2020. Figured a few years of keeping to myself wasn’t much of a difference, and honestly it hasn’t been. But being perpetually single, combined with being on the outside of the silent mass denial tontine that includes my friends and family, is starting to grate on me.

Oh, for like 20 years previous to covid I had been doing an event with a children’s charity for one week a year. Made lots of close friends (damn near family!) that all kinda disappeared once I stopped doing it when they decide to ignore covid. Still chat with her from time to time, but not in that way.

Funny story, pretty sure she had covid in november 2019. She got hit really hard for a few weeks by a flu that wasn’t influenza. Wasn’t sure if she was gonna be able to come visit me.

Closer to 2 weeks, but yeah. Don’t wanna go into too much detail for doxxing reasons, but it was a pretty massive undertaking for large groups of children with special needs. So it required lots of organizing the rest of the year and plenty of care and teamwork during the event. Plus, again, almost 20 years with many of the same people. For that little stretch of the year I was probably the best version of myself. Been trying to find another Covid Conscious organization or something to get involved with, but I’m in a pretty Red area and even the folks I know that do Food Not Bombs are on that Back to Normal train. Been thinking maybe maskblocs or something.

Unrelated but my friend just got it and is getting blurry vision and I’m fucking scared for them. Why does nobody act like covid exists still?

They should just have said that COVID can turn you gay

  • White people/the West would care if they had not heard it mostly impacts the poor, POC and marginalized people. Once they heard that, everyone went back to brunch.

At the same time covid is a virus that is spread around the world by tourists, in my country an entire wave was seeded by upper class/wealthy people doing tourism. But it doesn’t affect them enough so they don’t care.

I don’t think making it about being an STD would cause anything more than more othering towards the same marginalized groups.
