I swear to god dude, out of all things that will precipitate the balkanization of USA, it’s Trump losing, it’s officially clown fiesta of a reality.
It’s 2024, tomatoes are 25 dollars a pound and a dozen eggs costs a 15 year mortgage, we are absolutely fucked if this is what mobilizes this country.
Its like that in sports. Its way more dangerous to be a fan of the visiting team when the home team wins. People who start senseless violence are generally cowards who want an excuse to use violence to feel empowered. Fighting for a loser just doesn’t hit the same way for them.
I would say that in this particular case a second Trump loss can be spun into “another stolen future” or some shit and galvanize MAGAs to riot more than they would if he won.
That would make some sense. Without a trump win the GOP is directionless. There could be death throes(not that the gop is actually dying) that take the form right wing violence.
But think about how bad riots and stochastic terrorism would be after each crisis that happened during his presidency.
I dont know how to find numbers for hate crimes and political violence after his win in 2016, but that’d be the best reference point.
They went up but a lot of it was against Asians during COVID, so he certainly stoked volatile climates.
