The rhino beetle’s main form of attack is to gain leverage over their opponent using their horn and fling them overhead in an insect suplex, so “better at melee” is apt. I don’t know of any butterfly that utilizes any kind of ranged attack, so I can’t say for sure if they’d be better with guns.
