    You don’t pay to own the movie. You pay for access to it, which is why digital copies are often cheaper than physical ones. Also, digital copies last longer than physical ones - if you lose your DVD or it gets damaged, that’s the end in that route. But then, you’re also free to make copies as long as you don’t distribute them so each form has its pros and cons.
