Noam Chomsky makes many good points but I don’t like his way of criticizing socialist states. I’ve never seen him give an even-handed analysis that acknowledged the complex realities and mitigating circumstances these states have faced. At worst he echoes actual capitalist propaganda against them. I think Michael Parenti gives them a much fairer shake.
