Pride’s over everyone! It’s now illegal to be gay again.

Had my first face-to-face conversation with my dad after telling him I’m trans and he really wants to remind me a lot of people regret surgeries lea-why

as maybe the only person here who’s posted about surgery regret, I can tell you in all the trans spaces I’ve engaged with I’ve met maybe 2 others with regret and for them it was purely a functional issue. seeing this being weaponized for gatekeeping is so deeply frustrating

“We just did a surgery to save your life, how do you feel?”

“You know… I think I regret this, can you put the tumor back in me?”

That’s what I always think when I hear transphobes scaremonger about surgeries.

I forget the exact statistic/point of comparison but I’m pretty sure cases like that are actually more common then regretting gender affirming surgeries.

Can also remind him that not everyone wants surgery and the ones that do go on to have surgery vastly outweigh the ones who regret it.
Also surgery regret rhetoric is a transphobic meme. It not only disrespects the ones who would want surgery, but also the trans people who do regret it.
