I’m wondering/imagining. Did he walk into a diy store to get that thing himself or did one of his employees do it? Did he buy it an hour before or a day before? What goes through one’s mind to think “I’ll go buy a sink and have my picture taken with it, that’ll be funny”. Was there a meeting about this?
I assume some poor employee got a message from a middle manager who got it from higher up manager saying “meet Elon outside the Twitter building in ten minutes with a sink. Don’t talk to Elon, just hand him the sink and get out of the way when they start taking pictures” and they never found out why, nor cared to ask because it was just a another bit of foam on the ocean of nonsensical bullshit that Elon Musk leaves in his wake wherever he goes.

No way he bought that himself. He definitely made some underpaid assistant buy it about 10 minutes before he needed to walk in with it.
Meetings are rather pointless when you’re a supervillain deathly allergic to anything but the most sycophantic of praise and affirmation.
