There are many lemmy instances in the world, but currently most people are using lemmy.world. This is why everything has gotten so slow.

I agree! I kinda wish there was a giant message on the join-lemmy page where users don’t need to join the biggest instances and would rather join smaller ones cause they can still the same content cause of awesomeness of fediverse.
