I spent far longer than I care to admit pressing the stupid YouTube play icon waiting for a video to start.
Well that gave me a good chuckle. Thank you for that @resin85
Okay I’m glad I’m not the only one, makes me feel slightly better.
Could we make a federated YouTube ???
This already exists and is called Peertube. It’s also connected to the fediverse. But it definitely needs more server instances, users and content.

I am using ublock origin and I don’t have the youtube texts yet. Maybe it will start in the US and then the rest of the world. It kinda happened with the down vote button.
Nope, not yet with Firefox and uBlock Origin. There will probably be a way around it if they decide to enforce it.
It’s even worse than the reddit fuckery. I’d rather stop using youtube than seeing ads (haven’t seen an ad for more than 5 years and it would feel very obtrusive to start seeing five in a row now)
What did youtube do? I’m on Revanced and is working great.
I think they cracked down on addblockers, but there may be more to it
THE BASTARDS.
I’ve had YouTube Premium for years and for the amount of YT I watch, mostly on my AppleTV where ad blockers aren’t an option anyway, it’s worth it.
I stopped using Twitter years ago, and hopefully the recent changes that prevent non-logged in users seeing the tweets and the stupid API limits, mean far fewer twitter links posted to social media and the site just dies naturally.
As for Reddit, I’ll still use old Reddit on desktop, but my mobile use has dropped to negligible levels. I’ll only occasionally open Dystopia to check on a small number of subs.
