    First of all, congresspeople are legislators, not HR. Employee contracts are simply not part of their job, nor should it be.

    Second, and more importantly, “union pressure” is by far the best and most effective way for workers to be treated fairly, so I’d say that it’s the other way around: any congressperson who DOESN’T support their staffers unionizing needs to be replaced by one who does.

        OK, but they shouldn’t. Takes time and effort away from their main gig of legislating.

        Much better to have a union negotiate directly with a representative of the body as a whole who’s NOT supposed to be busy deciding the future of the country and thus the world.
