I was a comment fiend on Reddit, and now I shall be one on Lemmy. And it’s so much easier to be king of the comments when the comments are mostly empty. 😏

Downvotes are instance to instance. I think accumulated comment points are only displayed by your client.

Downvotes are hidden behind an extra click. I actually like that. It means you really need to want to downvote something and won’t do it so much on a whim.

I have not seen it specifically called “karma” on here, and Lemmy as it is doesn’t track your totals for you, outside of individual posts and comments. Also, a lot of folks here want to build a new community that isn’t like reddit, and the karma farming was indeed a bad thing and lead to people selling high-karma accounts to advertisers.
Anyway, it was a joke.
