Can anyone recommend any good novels or short stories set in a solar punk setting? I read a lot of sci-fi but somehow have never read anything set in this setting, I guess The Culture books could be considered solar punk in some ways but it’s almost too futuristic.
- heavyboots1·1 year ago
- Gamechanger and Dealbreaker by L X Beckett
- Stealing Worlds by Karl Schroeder
- Walkaways by Cory Doctorow
- Lots of stuff by Kim Stanley Robinson (New York 2140 for example)
- Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson is about working towards a solar punk future but definitely not in one yet, kind of like KSR’s Ministry for the Future
- Same with Daemon and Freedom by Daniel Suarez (and his Delta-V series is similar)
- Seconding “Green Days in Brunei” and possibly “Maneki Neko” by Bruce Sterling
- Pretty much everything by Becky Chambers is so positive it belongs in the solar punk category. The Monk and Robot stuff in particular
