Those are bogus numbers coming from lemmyonline.com. Some instances are importing data from elsewhere. I’m filtering them from my site https://lemmyverse.net as they are completely unrealistic numbers/spam instances.

Edit: Podycust and others listed there are also all mega Sus.

I believe this is affected by the way federation is currently implemented, where you see metrics relative to your instances relationship with the host instance you’re interacting with.

My understanding is this is being worked on so the metrics line up across all federated instances.

I wonder if mass spam user and post deletions could explain it… There is next to no protection OR clean up tools build into lemmy at this point.

I think generally it is not as well maintained as fediverse.observer, see this bug.
