    Hexbear is one of those instances that has a bad reputation. One of which is for being anti trans and yet the data says something different, unless they all hate themselves. In my experience of their users though, they’re a decent bunch, polite and insightful. Though admittedly, I’m not in many of the main communities on Lemmy, so tend to miss most things.

      Hexbear has a bad reputation for many reasons, but I’ve never heard anyone claim that they’re anti trans. They are known for being incredibly protective of their trans members.

        Hexbear’s biggest detractors often call them anti-queer. Mostly because of an idea that western imperialists are at least nice to queer people and that anti-imperialist governments, including historically communist ones, have been staunchly anti-queer across the board. Of course, the truth is more complicated on both sides. Either way, western influence on the world has been a disaster for queer people everywhere.

      I feel like most of the hexbear users I’ve run into live up to their negative reputation. Maybe the communities I see just bring out the worst users from that server for some reason.

        I think it’s about the communities I interact with them in. I’m really not a fan of the mainstream communities and so inadvertently but luckily, avoid trolls for the most part.

      you’re on a clown instance with hits like “I dont see trans women as women” and regularly gets spammed with transphobic diatribes, why not move to a better instance rather than associate with filth?

      say whatever you want about tankies (re: the dreaded wokes), theyve carved out a safe spot for trans people and the numbers show it

          the west punishes queer people just as much as russia in many places. china is basically neutral, though the largest cities, particularly shanghai, have a lot of trans resources. communists support progressive historical forces, you cannot have progress under imperialism, and many right wing and queerphobic countries are in a struggle against imperialism, of which often imposed these queerphobic ideas on them. i assume you’re an anarchist and trans, right? you need to get your head out of your ass and stop attacking other trans people that agree with you on 99.9% of things.

          Hexbear users don’t think any differently, in fact they’re worse than average, they just don’t say that part out loud.

              Nobody with half a heart likes you, and nobody with half a brain thinks you want anything for me other than to be thrown in a gulag for being a degenerate and an anti-revolutionary (an nb who doesn’t want to be murdered or conversion therapy’d)

              i think you’re projecting and are just full of hatred. i am in an extremely loving polycule and my job is running a community ran homeless shelter for queer people, which is honestly just a dream job for me. all i feel is love, all you spout is hate 🤷‍♀️ hope you figure your shit out

                  China has clinics where youth are given the resources for transitioning, while multiple western governments are criminalizing and reducing the means by which to transition.

                  Marcie started the post with data maybe you could back up your extraordinary claims with regard to hexbear users? I doubt you will be able to

          Before western religion China had many representations of diverse gender identity and accepted homosexuality. Western governments sterilized, imprisoned and killed trans and gay people! This continues to this day, there are more murders of trans people in the united states than Russia or China COMBINED and multiplied by 15!

          Cuba has the most progressive legal framework of protection for trans or gay people in the world.
