Do they mean that if I am not subscribed to any instance, I cannot comment there? Or if I don’t have an account for that community, I can’t comment? For example, I made my account in lemmy.ml but I am able to comment in one of the instances of beehaw.org.

    It seems like you have to add instances to the app to even have them show in “everything”. So if you add sh.itjust.works it would show that instance even if you don’t have an account there. You can still comment between instances, as long as they have not defederated from one like how beehaw is defederated with sh.itjust.works

      Update: I couldn’t comment on another instance in Liftoff since it asked me to sign-in to that instance but I don’t have that instance’s account. I can comment via Jerboa though.

    I have to admit, I don’t quite get the account settings in liftoff. Do they expect me to have an account on each of the default instances?

    Currently I’m on feddit.de and I have to scroll through a bunch of (for me) useless accounts and sorting options to finally reach “Feddit.de/local/hot” for example.
