Also, all those links go either to Wikipedia or to some breadtube channel called “Anark”

I recall someone semi-recently online who acted like I was trying to dunk on them when I was just being staunch about the facts and about knowing what they’re talking about on the subject matter. Genuinely surprised me at the time because I wasn’t even thinking of it in that way. Probably one of the most important things I had to do in learning this stuff was listening more and “having takes” less. I still try to keep an eye on it because it’s not something I can just unlearn like a switch flip; the world doesn’t need me being “a communist but still arrogant and inventing wildly.”

You’re on the right path then.

Stay humble, and back out from discussing shit you don’t know about. People will notice and respect you for it.

being “a communist but still arrogant and inventing wildly.”

      I feel personally attacked!

No but seriously, as someone who followed a path which was roughly militant online atheist -> lib debate fetishist -> arrogant communist with nothing but cursory knowledge, I really sympathize with having to work to not fall back into past bad habits. I often find myself furiously typing long comments, then stopping and asking “do I even know this?” or “what am I trying to achieve here?” and then deleting it in shame.
