This winter I removed a blackcurrant plant that had been rooted beneath the shed. It had apparently been there for a few years, in the darkness between the shed and the fence. I dug it up and planted it in the sunshine, but one of its arms got torn off as I was freeing it. I figured I may as well just put the arm in the ground as well and see what happens, and now it is growing bigger and stronger than the healthy plant I bought from the shop. It is like being in darkness all those years, the sun is now like steroids for them.

When I was a little one, my family decided to name a Venus flytrap I was particularly fond of Audrey, y’know after the plant in little shop of horrors.

Long story short, it became a tradition in the house to call carnivorous plants Audrey.

Right now that name is being used for a cape sundew that sits on my window next to the pepper plant that seems to constantly attracts flies. It died back a little over the winter but is more than making up for it in growth. Maybe I’ll get viable seeds this year.
