See the images attached to the linked bug report. Where it usually says my username in the top-right, another user’s name appeared. This happened twice in the last two days.

I submitted the bug to the lemmy-ui project, but I’m not certain if this is a lemmy-ui problem, or a problem with the specific infrastructure setup of lemmy.ml, or even a backend issue.

Any advice on whether I should post this bug report to somewhere else for greater visibility would be welcome. This could be indicative of a fairly serious security issue (or it could be a completely cosmetic bug).

Usually if something like this happens on a service, it’s the server giving out the wrong data cache to the client. Sometimes it can be tangibly harmful, though it usually stops at read-only even if you can view someone’s profile.

Can’t speak to this issue specifically, but I’ve seen it posted about before, and it’s probably in that ballpark.

I’ve seen a few mentions of it around the place, so I believe it’s a known issue.

Those issue trackers are the correct place to file bug reports.

It is a known bug in lemmy-ui, the webapp, and the removal of websockets in forthcoming version 0.18 should fix it.
