I recently found out the water at the place I’m staying is definitely full of lead cuz all the plumbing fixtures were put together with lead solder (recently too :( )

So I’ve been drinking the filtered water you can get in those refillable 20 liter bottles

Could someone send $10 so I can go refill this container and maybe get some food?

All I have rn is my cash app at $paxxap

Thank you for reading <3

Edit: Someone sent me $10! Thank you so much

I get your concern but it’s quite unlikely that you get lead poisoning from solder. It’s sufficient to let the water run for a while to be sure that any dangerous levels of lead are gone. Water has to be stagnant in full lead pipes for a certain time to be contaminating your water.

But yeah, better safe than sorry. I’m not sure about building codes around there but maybe you could escalate your concerns so this can be looked at by an expert?

Yeahh, maybe you’re right. It just scares me a lot especially with how recent the work is

I’m living with family at the moment so there’s not really a lot I can do about it. It’s literally illegal to be using that shit for drinking water-related plumbing in 2024 but they don’t really care…

You might also be able to nick a water treatment thing, like a Brita or Pur filter, they have faucet attached ones that are pretty small and you can bring it with you to the next place of course. They are effective at reducing lead levels, so maybe grab 2 lead testers and check before and after filtration?

I actually have one of those and I was using it until recently cuz I’ve always known the pipes here were made of lead. I just found out like a week ago that recent (!!!) plumbing work had been done with lead solder so the levels are probably super fucked now

And I read online they only reduce lead levels to a certain extent so I’ve been too afraid to drink the water here at all. Next time I have gas money to make it to a Home Depot (or similar) though I’m gonna take your advice and see if it’s actually drinkable with a filter

          I really hope I didn’t get poisoned already :(
