If I recall, HBO Go and HBO Now were actually 2 separate things. Go was for people who subscribed to HBO via their television provider, and Now was a standalone service that didn’t require a TV subscription. Eventually, they discontinued Now and folded it into Go, rebranding it as HBO Max.
