I’ll get the hang of it I guess
I’m having a heck of a fun time not just trying to find places I’m interested in, but figuring out the best lemmy instances for them. Because xyz on one server isn’t the same as xyz on another server, even though we can access both of them from any server we want.
I’m also a bit sus of lemmy.ml, which is sad since it seems to have the most activity overall so far. We’ll see how it goes.
But yes, where sub indeed.
Why are you sus?
I haven’t looked into it myself (which is why I’m sus and not worse) but a lot of people have accused the person running the server of some sketchy stuff. Like removing any posts critical of China or Russia, and similar things. Typical biased mod stuff.
And yesterday in the “what’s something you’d like to see stay on reddit and not follow?” thread on (I believe) lemmy.ml’s AskLemmy, someone went on a full-on transphobic rant using typical “just asking questions” / “I’m just worried about them!” concern trolling, which led to that post staying up but (apparently) most people who disagreed being removed. That left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
I haven’t looked into the issues deeply enough to make up my own mind, but the sheer amount of accusations - combined with the fact that lemmy.ml is overloaded and very laggy - makes me think it’s better to just be on another server. Just in case.
To be fair, most leftist subs were also taken over by tankies, so it’s not worse here
