I’m in a dilemma, I think ownership of media is important, but the convenience of Spotify and the algorithm of new music that it suggests has helped me find amazing artists that I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise.
Fellow sailors, what are your thoughts, and how do you personally listen to music?

I have three music apps on my tablet personally. One is Spotify, one is Mucke (a nice little app on Fdroid), and one is Vanilla Music.
I use Mucke pretty much exclusively for a band I have an autistic special interest in, both because for me they’re kind of their own stuff, and the majority of their vast catalogue is not on streaming apps. Vanilla Music I use for most everything else I have in local files.
I use Spotify first, to support the artists a little, and to discover new music. Local files if it’s not on streaming.
