Anyone got a good site, and how the invite system works for them?

Myanonamouse (spelling?) is the best by far. I’ve been on there long enough to not remember how I got in, but I don’t remember it being tough at all.

Good luck. Since the files are so small, I just keep them seeding permanently. Every time I log on I have maxed points, so I buy FL tokens and buy into a millionaire pot (when it reaches a million, everyone who donated gets FL tokens). I think I have a couple hundred tokens at this point.

You can also buy VIP pretty easily for a couple weeks so I tend to add VIP-only books to a wishlist then buy VIP when there’s more than a couple.

All said, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten under 50% full and the next time I log in, it’s back up to max.

Thing I’m confused about is that they’re saying if you use a VPN you have to update them on the ip address as it changes. So every once in a while I should check my ip and email them?

You sign up from your home ip address, which is SOP for all private trackers. Your passkey embedded in every torrent you seed contains information about your account so that you can seed with a vpn and the tracker will know which account is actually doing the seeding. The only wonky thing on MAM with a vpn is that the .torrent file has to be downloaded from the same ip address that downloads the file in the bt client, so if you download the .torrent file with your vpn turned off or the download is outside the vpn tunnel, then fire up the vpn and launch qbittorrent, when you try to begin downloading the file you’ll get an error message.

I have an always on VPN. I’ve never done that and have had no problems. Just be polite and sign up without one and then tell the mods you use one.

Thanks! I just went through the sign up process yesterday morning and using a VPN. Do you have your torrent client collectable? Do you find any benefits having that? Only asking because I can see my seeds are getting registered and I’m maintaining a radio

I’m assuming you mean connectable and ratio.

Networking is the sole reason I’m not in IT. I hate it, I get different errors doing the same thing, and generally avoid every possible second of doing I can.

I did TRY to get my client connectable, but I never can. I’m in the same boat as you - I still get ratio and no one has ever said anything, so I leave it alone.

Fair enough, that’s what I’m thinking too. Seems to work well enough and nobodys said anything

I signed up for MAM during their one of their regular open signups. The process was pretty straight forward. Get familiar with the rules since they’ll ask you questions about them and answer the other questions the best you can. It’s an extremely welcoming and friendly community.

Speaking of open signups, is there any organized community on Lemmy that highlights when they’re available (especially, in my case, for audiobooks)?

I don’t believe anything quite like r/opensignups has taken off yet. I see one result when I search for communities and it has no activity.

Thanks for the heads up… read em, rules seems pretty standard as far as private trackers go (except the no cursing, but I don’t mind lol)

Literally the best tracker you can be involved with… as soon as you get an account you will be showered with points just for being new… Send me your username and ill send you a few too :)

I thought no cursing rule was cringe at first. But considering how cheery everyone on chat/forums are I don’t mind it now.
