Every time I turn on the app, it switches back to local/active, whereas I would like subscribed/hot. It doesn’t seem to remember my setting, is this by design or a missing feature?
You can set your default settings for this in the jerboa app on android at least. It’s in settings/profile
Thanks, it works, I didn’t know I needed to save settings after changing (didn’t expect that). There’s also this issue: https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues/449
It should either be closed or the setting removed and the issue implemented
Yea that save button is easy to miss
It also takes a minute to save.
I did it three or four times before it actually locked in and remembered that adjustment, and until then I was having the same issue as OP.
Have you pressed the save button at the bottom of the settings page? I tried now and it does save for me if I hit save, close and reopen the app
+1 Not a dev but I’d also prefer this to be the case. Especially since the value of the fediverse is that we can subscribe to many instances’ communities.
Additionally, to help spread the load, users were advised to sign up on other (usually smaller) instances that may not have big communities and defaulting to local communities means they don’t see much content and may discourage engagement.
These should be configurable in your user settings (Settings -> ‘{username} settings’), there are two drop downs under the banner image, I believe they are ‘Default Listing Type’ and ‘Default Sort Order’.
Seems to be working for me when I close and open the app.
Yes, it works. But the save button is not something I would expect on Android UI. I would expect an auto save on change. So I didn’t see/click it and it confused me. But you’re right, it works. Edit: especially strange since look and feel in settings doesn’t need/have a save button.
I’ve noticed the same. My guess is that this is a bug, especially since under User Settings in the app we clearly have fields to specify our desired default sorting and display preferences. But alas, the drop down menu doesn’t work, typing on it doesn’t work, it just doesn’t work… So it defaults to local active.
