There’s a lot of good information out there that would be lost otherwise.
I don’t want to give Reddit traffic anyways, so maybe it’s good to only look at the archived versions going forward.
You could try the Wayback Machine
Yeah, I think that’s the only way. It’s quite saddening though.
wayback machine only archives new Reddit though, which means a comment depth of about 2
I think it also archives
old.reddit.com
, works for me at leasti personally haven’t had much luck with old.reddit, nm.reddit, or i.reddit. it’s unfortunate that wayback sees them as different sites
i wish there was some static archive of all text on reddit pre 11/06/2023
I agree. It would be nice if there was some sort of archive of all of the data from Reddit. There is such an incredible wealth of knowledge that will be lost if the subreddits that went private never open again.
You could try here https://archive.org/web/
Google also sometimes has cache, you need to click the tree dots at the right of the site (on desktop) and hope the cache button is there https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:gsruBfntoNQJ:https://archive.org/I know that there are archives of Reddit floating around, don’t know where to go for them currently. /c/datahoarder would be a good place to inquire.
