It’s the active user count that is important, total user count just keeps growing even if the network is shrinking in practice.

With that said, lemmy is becoming one of the most popular platforms in the fediverse.

Same! Super excited to see Lemmy, along with the rest of federated social media, getting the attention it deserves

I heard someone else mention that Lemmy and the Fediverse is what Web.3 was meant to be.

So, this website tracks user posts, comments, sign ups, all the stats. Just keep in mind that to do so, it actively scans all nodes. So if lemmy.ml is down but lemmy.world is still up, the user count may seem slightly lower than it actually is, and you may see dips as instances go offline due to traffic, therefore their users go offline. But its a good indicator of where we are at, and it showed us as firmly over 100K.

I’m hoping so. I’ve been following Lemmy for a while now, a few months. Sometime at the start of this year I got sick of reddit and started investigating alternatives. I found Lemmy and it showed some promise being nearly the same format. I made an account, its just that my reddit feed was more active and I posted there more. Then I lost my login. But then Lemmy saw a huge spike of users thanks to spaz and his API changes so I decided it was time to rejoin the fun. Super excited to see Lemmy over 100k, back when I had my first account I had hoped for 10K.
