Gone are the times when CV was enough. Now they want you to make an account to apply to their jobs. I had some jobs requiring me to fill in extensive brain-dead tests without anyone even having a glance at my CV. I mean, people don’t even really look at your CVs, do they? Now everything gets AI filtered. I got rejected from a position I believe I was overqualified for in ~5 minutes from applying. I had an interview today and I’d love to get the job, but I was sent a very overcomplicated form which is basically a retelling of my CV after the allegedly read through my CV and we had an interview where they could’ve asked me anything, which also features a references list! Why? It terrifies me they’d contact my employer and if they don’t hire me, which I assume they won’t, I’ll be seen as unloyal and therefore most likely to get overlooked when it comes to any promotions and whatnot. I hate it so much. I just want to work. Make me do work related exercises, not stuff for HR, please. PLEASE. PweAssseEEe. :cccccccc

I hate
how ridiculouslyemployer-sided the market is at the momentMeanwhile the news and government just don’t shut up about how workers have too much power right now and are being paid too much and unemployment’s too low
Motherfuckers what world are you living in? Everyone I know is saying how they’ve been applying to jobs for months and heard nothing.
The only nice part is when old people not yet retired, who dunked on younger generations also experience the job market and are confused, because they’re used to hearing back quickly, while now they struggle to find job offers, usually don’t hear back and when they do, the offer is really bad.
at the moment
i have bad news
The thing to understand with these overly complicated application processes, ridiculous tests, and AI filtering is that they exist not to ensure the highest quality candidate but rather to give hiring managers and HR departments plausible deniability. It’s there so if a new hire ends up being a liability they can say “oh we used the latest AI analysis! We made them do brain teasers like Google does!” It’s fault avoidance. Just think of it as a system to game.
Interesting. I always thought they use it because they’re both lazy and want to get the candidates who have the lowest self respect who will put up with that shit (me rn btw).
Btw I actually got fired once for listing my current employer as a reference. I pretty much slacked off at work constantly so that was given as the reason, but honestly the real reason was clear. Fortunately I was accepted for the new job a couple hours after I was fired, but there were definitely a few hours there where I was wondering what I was going to do. I recommend if you have any other references not listing your current employer.
I’m not surprised, sadly. I listed someone who worked for me who got laid off and recommended for me to seek another job due to how my company treats employees who invest themselves into it. Honestly, I’m more worried they’ll ask me for documents, because I never get asked, but I legit have nothing (I’ve been homeless and moved countries many times, I have no clue where some of the stuff I should have went, but I tried to get copies in the past and didn’t succeed, because every institute wanted me to show up in person and I’ve neither the time nor the resources to fly to them). I hope my enthusiasm for being their slave shines through and they choose me.
Yeah I work in manufacturing and all the supervisors and managers think they can treat everyone like shit. I’m supposed to have an interview next week because I moved to a different department in the company, but I’m very hesitant about it because I recently had a fight with one of the supervisors and also with that supervisors manager this week so I really doubt this is a real interview, I think they just want me to go in so they can embarrass me in someway, which is shitty. I’m kinda just gonna put up with it for the meantime, but if they end up pulling some shit at this interview I’m gonna quit.
Wish fascists would go after employers and force them to hire people on the premise that them gatekeeping jobs from people is them trying to play God and decide who lives and who dies of starvation.
I hope you find a better job. I hate toxic managers. Our shitty main manager got a major promotion but will sadly still work from our office. :(
Sorry to hear that, I hope you find a better job too.
Thank u. 🥺
But I thought no one wanted to work anymore.
I’m actually unironically such a massive degenerate I want to work and enjoy working, but capitalism ruins labour so bad…
First, don’t say degen it’s gross. Second, it’s natural for humans to want to work, to want to be productive. Capitalism just makes it the most excruciating process
omg wow so me
I work in an industry where it’s extremely rare to do psychometric testing for hiring.
The only time I was ever asked to do one, I felt the whole outfit had bad vibes so I turned them down even though they offered good money.
Found out later talking to some friends that the guy who ran that company was a hard core libertarian and convicted fraudster.
im just praying that news about another big retirement wave just MIGHT help my chances (i am delusional)
