We talked about everyone’s favorite Pokémon, but who’s your least favorite? A Pokémon that, no matter what, will never make it on your team? Or maybe the Pokémon you find least interesting?

I have a few, lol.

  • Mr. Mime. I’ve never liked Mr. Mime, I always found him a little freaky since the first time I saw him. I don’t have a problem with clowns or mimes or other performers of the type… I just really don’t like Mr. Mime.

  • Shedinja. I love the concept of Shedinja, but the execution is… Lackluster. Wonderguard is basically pointless, since Shedinja’s weaknesses are so common, and even moves that aren’t super effective can still take it out if they have a secondary or battlefield effect…

  • And finally, a recent Pokémon, Quaquaval. I. Cannot. Stand. This design. Quaxly is… Okay. It’s the least strong of it’s starter trio. After that, it’s all downhill in a big way, lol.

What about you guys? Who are your least favorite Pokémon, and why?

Oh gods, no. That thing is…

Evolving it doesn’t make it any better, either.

Gotta be Avalugg, it’s a living room table made of Ice. Doesn’t help that’s it’s supposed to be a defensive pokemon and it’s pure ice type with bad special defense.

Rotom. Ultra Moon made me hate that guy like no other Pokémon. Seriously, how did GF manage to make the Pokédex so annoying?

Oh god I couldn’t even get through Ultra Sun because of rotom staring at me and being so annoying. Completely turned me off the game.

Gods, yes. Rotom narrowly avoided making my list. It wouldn’t be so bad if Rotom wasn’t such a needy thing. Felt like I couldn’t go two minutes without Rotom-dex giving me those sad eyes, and the Rotom boosts… I actually don’t think I ever used them. Rotom is a cool concept, and then every piece of technology in the Pokemon world became a Rotom-something. Rotom-fridge, Rotom-mower, Rotom-dex, Rotom-phone. It’s a good mirror for the prevalence of “Internet of Things” smart devices in the real world. Smart washers with WiFi connectivity that you can set and start from your phone, smart lawn mowers, smart toasters. My brother-in-law bought a smart-grill.

I don’t want the Pokemon world to reflect those aspects of the real world, though. 😭

Garganacl. Its design is mid imo and salt cure + purifying salt is a bane upon humanity. When i see it on the opposing team on showdown i know im about to have a great game…

Toxapex has been haunting me ever since gen 7 with scald regenerator toxic recover etc… and its design is disgusting, at least garganacl is fun to play.

M-Scizor gets a honorable mention for being the only mega i dislike, it brings nothing to the mon, same typing, ability, its just stat boosts and its boring as hell

I don’t like Dunsparce; not because its design is inherently bad or anything

I just hate its design in a completely arbitrary way; so many interesting colors and the actual mon is just a Normal type tsuchinoko…

you know what, maybe I don’t like Dunsparce because I’ve never used it before

Dunsparce is… Entirely forgettable as a design, honestly, though I’ve grown to love it since Pokémon gave it a memevolution. Dudunsparce is hilarious, and the fact that it has a rare “Dududunsparce” mutation is the best. Though I do think they missed an opportunity to make an actually amazing Pokémon there.

I very often forget that Dunsparce is a Gen II Pokémon.

There are several starter designs past Gen III that I never really cared for. In Gen 4 I tend to just dump my starter.

I’ve started to dislike Zacian. It basically ruined the Pokemon Unite moba game, which was for a brief period actually sorta balanced and not-pay-to-win (except occasionally an overpowered mon for like, two days before it got patched). Zacian ruined all of that. Even after it became available to freebie players, it stayed horribly broken. Admittedly it can be very satisfying to gang up and murder Zacian, but if it gets any kind of lead it will just absolutely delete your team. Likewise I don’t like the eevee-evolutions as much as I used to as the developers over-favor them and kinda spammed them. My understanding is that she (Zacian) is broken in whatever meta she enters, so this isn’t unique to Pokemon Unite which is tbh a shit game that could be fun if the devs weren’t jerks.
On the plus side, the game did make me like Greedent, Zeroara, Eldegloss, Cramorant, and appreciate Mr. Mime who has a really interesting play-style and has saved my ass a few times. Thank you Mr. Mike.

I don’t really like most megas. I will ditto hating rotom.
