Godamn it pains me. I’m convinced that all of my irl friendships/relationships always fizzle out because I’m stale beyond words and am just so fucking dry. I have some friends who I’ve only heard laugh a handful of times, and it probably wasn’t even because of me. And if it was, it was surely because I did something awkward/socially taboo

You just need to harness your stale and dry words to the side of humor. Try understatement and sarcasm. Some people will get it, you just need to work on the timing and situation. All humor is based on a betrayal of expectations. Dry humor is built on a foundation of people believing that you aren’t funny and whatever is happening isn’t funny either. Work on adding a wry smile to your repertoire, and then bust it out when it is possible people might believe you aren’t being sarcastic, but that you are just not too smart. Some people will figure it out eventually

Lmao I think you perfectly explained the reason why I’m not funny, maybe I can find a good book to learn (as I’ve done with literally everything other social practice in my life)

That’s a ton of stuff to keep straight

Dry humor isn’t for everyone, its okay to not be funny sometimes being too funny has the same effect. If it makes you feel better I’ve posted and made decent amount of memes and I have found I am occasionally mildly funny.
