According to the reporting a 13 year old girl was raped and murdered. They found semen in her, it was tested, diagnostics indicated the perpetrator was of a certain Kurdish origin. They did this, got a DNA match of a brother, later acquired a used cigarette from the man and it was a match.
While I’m deeply uncomfortable with capitalist police powers because of tendency for abuse this is a pretty clear case where I’m very glad the guy was caught because this is a monstrous type of violent predator who deserves the worst.
So this wasn’t unprovoked racial profiling or anything like that if the reporting is accurate.
In a socialist state in the high stage honestly I think keeping everyone’s DNA from birth and using it for rape and murder cases would be completely appropriate. I would be against it in a capitalist state obviously as these people perpetuate racism, and traffic children for the capitalist class and such a thing’s primary use now would be crushing workers.
Yeah tech like this ultimately is science so it should be utilized by us, all it does is point closer toward the truth and that should be celebrated and incoperated as a technique, as in practice it will likely also be used to free a lot of people who where convicted by racial or class bias. Like you said its systemic the issues with the police and criminilziation in a neo-liberal society.
