After Texas fenced off a park along the U.S.-Mexico border and began turning away Border Patrol agents, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott explained why at a campaign stop near Houston.

“We are not allowing Border Patrol on that property anymore,” Abbott said Friday, drawing applause from supporters while endorsing a state legislator running for reelection. He relayed frustration over migrants illegally entering the U.S. through the border city of Eagle Pass and federal agents loading them onto buses.

“We said, ‘We’ve had it. We’re not going to let this happen anymore,’” Abbott said.

Later that night, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said three migrants, including two children, drowned near the park after Texas officials “physically barred” Border Patrol agents from entering. Mexican authorities pulled the bodies, each of them wearing jackets, from the water on the other side of the Rio Grande.

I know it’s said a lot, but how in the fuck do people live with themselves over this type of shit. I still feel guilty about the one kid I accidentally absolutely crushed into the boards with a shoulder check playing indoor soccer. That shit was like 15 years ago, and the kid was no worse off besides some bruises.

They’re shit christians. They genuinely believe this is what god wants. I just hope their god is real, and when they die, they get the fire and brimstone treatment for all their sins.

He’s not. We need to ensure they’re held to account in this life rather than hoping for an imaginary recompense in death (I know that’s not what you meant, just dislike the general apathy this line of thinking can breed, even if it is useful as a venting mechanism)

Oh don’t worry, I want all involved to go to prison for negligent homicide. They also need to know that they’re shit christians and there will be no salvation for them. I want them to know that in this life and the next (which I also agree doesn’t exist), they’re going to find out after the fucking around.
