You have to imagine that in China the state has complete and total control over what people talk about? That’s why this is orientalism. The US does more domestic spying, more journalistic manipulation, has more vigilante justice murdering people for espousing certain topics, and China is the place that you can’t trust because they repress counter revolutionary activities in former and current Western proxies like Hong Kong and Taiwan?
