On my new device I was asked to add some overlay for Link to Windows when doing the setup. It seems like it does have zero functionality it does not even open the App.
How do I remove this again?
Either a setting within the Windows Link to Phone app, or go to your Settings, Apps, select the Link to Phone app, within or near Permissions, look for a setting for “Overlay”, “App can appear on top” etc.
Switch that off.
None of the few setting within the Link to Phone-app change it, overlay in the Android-settings for the app is switched off - it still appears: Screenshot
I looked into it a bit more: This support page someone was facing the same problem.
The solution appears to be:
Go to settings > accessibility > advanced settings > accessibility button > select action > select “Your phone companion” in the bottom Screenshot
This solved the problem. Thanks a lot! 🌺
No worries, pal. I SMH at Microsoft for hiding settings like that in stupid places.
it means you can access your phone content on your windows device. Click on the start button in windows and search link phone
I know what Link to Windows is for. I don’t know what this overlay-icon on my Android-device is for. I can move it around, but I want to remove it as it has no functionality.
