I just saw today that there is now a desktop app in beta for Windows and macos. As a privacy conscious person on Linux I am stuck as a second class citizen using proton services because there are no Linux apps besides bridge.

    But I find the underlying cause of nearly every “we don’t have the help” situation for a company is not their inability to find the talent they need, but rather a lack of will to afford that talent.

    If they really did need Linux devs, and they are getting no bites, they aren’t offering enough. That’s assuming they’re even fishing in the first place, which I am wagering they aren’t. If they really were looking, they probably would have mentioned they were hiring.

    Evidently, they believe the revenue they think they’d earn with a native Linux app is less than the salary of the dev or dev team needed to make it. And the opportunity cost of making their existing devs wear extra hats apparently isn’t worth it to them, either.
