The r***it neovim community is fab and taking part in the go-dark outage protest. I think open source communities are better served by open not for profit, decentralized community-apps like this. The corporaate ones always go bad in the end. Reddit and Github both allowed their data to feed the big tech power grab that is LLMs.

    Yeah. Or host an instance yourself if speed and uptime is that important. It isn’t complicated and there are even ansible playbooks for it.

    I don’t really get complaining that early stage software isn’t meeting the needs of a community that was on 15+ year old software. Features take time and if you want them faster, lemmy is open source, contribute the feature you want.

    It also doesn’t sound like lemmy is missing any features, other than account portability which is something we’ve never had as users before and OP has only been on lemmy a few days, just start a new account, your post and comment history isn’t that valuable
