The coal sector witnessed an unprecedented upswing, with production, dispatch and stock levels soaring to remarkable heights, the ministry said. "This exceptional growth is attributed to the unwavering dedication of coal PSUs, which has played a pivotal role in driving this extraordinary progress," the statement said.
Coal makes up something like 70% of India’s electricity production. India’s electricity demand grew at a rate of 10.7% last month, a supply gap that India is unable to bridge with renewables alone.
China and India are massive consumers of coal. China just built/ is currently building 6 new coal plants as well.
